Flanges and Gaskets
Flange gaskets are essential components used to create a tight, leak-proof seal between two flanged connections in piping systems. Typically made from materials such as rubber, graphite, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), or metal, these gaskets help prevent fluid or gas leakage by filling the microscopic gaps between the mating surfaces of the flanges. The gasket material is selected based on factors such as the type of fluid, temperature, pressure, and the chemical compatibility of the system. Flange gaskets come in various shapes, including ring, full-face, and spiral wound designs, to suit different flange types and application needs. Proper installation and maintenance of flange gaskets are crucial to ensuring the integrity and safety of industrial pipelines, preventing costly downtime, and protecting equipment from potential damage caused by leaks.
